About Me

My name is Pere Dolcet, and I’m a jack-of-all-trades game developer from Catalonia (Spain). I do design, programming, art, sound design – even music and animation sometimes, and I take each very seriously. I’m focused on developing innovative 2D games and pushing this medium forward.

I’m against mainstream game design trends, as I feel like the whole games industry and gamer culture is based on addiction and escapism to a greater degree than anyone would like to admit. I’m interested in advancing a purer game design philosophy, taking inspiration from developer Jonathan Blow, which would improve our understanding of the different elements that make us want to play games, and their tradeoffs, then keeping all of the good and less of the bad.

I started making games for fun with GameMaker when I was about 11 years old. A few years later I came across the indie game fenomenon, which inspired me to pursue game development as a career. I’ve always been interested in various artistic disciplines, so I wanted to take a wholistic approach to game development, which I believe to be the optimal approach. I spent years developing my skills toward this end before I felt ready for commercial game projects.
